Philippe Clement slams Hibs star’s tackle but Nick Montgomery questions John Lundstram Rangers reaction.
Regarding the red card challenge, the two bosses have different opinions.
Nathan Moriah-Welsh’s tackle of John Lundstram, which resulted in the Hibs player’s dismissal, has been criticized by Philippe Clement.
Following Jordan Obita down the tunnel following the left-back’s red card two minutes earlier, the midfielder was the second of two Hibees players to be sent out in tonight’s tumultuous Scottish Cup match. Even though there didn’t seem to be much contact, the former Bournemouth player came charging in on John Lundstram.
Referee Steven McLean promptly threw down the red card; he was not consulted before making the call. Chief of the Rangers, Clement, believes it was the right decision. He criticized the tackle after the game, saying that it should be outlawed since it puts players at risk of injury.
It doesn’t matter if you break a leg or not because it is a careless tackle with the studs in front, he stated. It is merely careless.
As we’ve seen in the last few weeks, there have been occasions where we didn’t receive a red card, so I believe it’s critical to eliminate that type of tackle from the game. That also did not make me pleased at the time. It is, in my opinion, detrimental to tackles of such nature in Scottish, English, Belgian, and German football.
Players should be aware that they will receive a red card for such a tackle. Going in that way puts someone in danger, thus it is not beneficial for anyone.
Hibs manager Nick Montgomery, on the other hand, is of the opinion that Lundstram maximized the tackle.
Monty remarked, “Nathan is just 21 years old and is new to first team football.” And to tell the truth, I could see it.
“I hold John Lundstram in high regard. He’s a very good player. However, I believed Nathan missed him because of the manner he fell.
“I watched that back, and he crossed over to try to stop him from playing a ball down the line, most likely to knock it out for a throw-in. John, though, has fallen.
“And the referee awarded the card with great speed. Since the VAR monitor was only three meters away from the scene of the incident, I must admit that I was a little shocked he didn’t go check it out. Sometimes, there is a slight lack of consistency while examining decisions.
