Out of the question’ – Ex-Rangers star wanted by English clubs won’t get Celtic job

Steven Naismith’s Rangers links mean Celtic job is ‘out of the question’ – sources.

Brendan Rodgers’ replacement at Celtic, Steven Naismith, will not be taken into consideration, sources have told Football Insider.

After giving up a seven-point lead to Rangers at the top of the table, Rodgers is under fire at Parkhead.

Given his ties to the Rangers, it is acknowledged that Naismith is “out of the question” for the post.

During his playing career, the 37-year-old made 132 appearances for the Rangers, tallying 30 assists and 33 goals.

As a player, he was only shown two red cards, the first of which came against Celtic in an Old Firm match at Ibrox in 2011.

At Celtic, Rodgers is under fire, but Steven Naismith won’t take his place.

After Naismith’s playing career at Hearts ended in 2021, he was given a position as a backroom staff member and eventually elevated to manager in 2023.

His reputation as a manager is rapidly expanding, and other clubs have taken notice of his achievements in Edinburgh.

According to Football Insider, several Championship teams are monitoring Naismith’s development at Hearts, including Millwall.

For the first time in 17 years, Naismith’s Hearts have defeated Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, and they are comfortably positioned in third place after his first season in charge of the Scottish team.
