On This Day: Happy Birthday to Celtic legend

Chris Sutton, a former Celtic striker, was born on this day.Today, the big guy turns 51.

Sutton joined the team for £6 million after leaving Chelsea, and he scored 86 goals in 199 games. During his tenure at the club, the centre forward would go on to win four titles, three Scottish Cups, one League Cup, and participate in both a Champions League and a European final. Sutton also enjoyed moments of success with Norwich and Blackburn Rovers, when he led the team in attack alongside Alan Shearer to win the Premier League title under Kenny Dalglish.

SCeltics supporters hold Butty in high regard because of his tenure under Martin O’Neil, during which he had fruitful ties with both John Hartson and Henrik Larsson. Ever since he traded the pitch for studios and gantries all throughout the United Kingdom, Sutton has never been far from controversy, frequently offering quite accurate critiques of failing teams, managers and players. These days, Sutton works for both Sky Sports and the BBC, and he frequently has to put up with Kris Boyd.
