Nottingham Forest boss Nuno names team to face Brighton in key Premier League clash
Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds face Brighton and Hove Albion at Amex Stadium
The Nottingham Forest squad for this afternoon’s crucial matchup against Brighton and Hove Albion has been named by head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Reds are hoping to snap a three-game losing streak across all competitions when they play on the south coast. They will also be fueled by a feeling of injustice following their most recent, contentious 1-0 loss to Liverpool.
Against the championship contenders, Nuno’s team appeared to be headed for at least a point. But as the final whistle blew, there were scenes of rage at the City Ground as Forest felt that referee Paul Tierney had made a mistake that allowed Darwin Nunez to score a last-minute winner.
The Reds are 17th in the Premier League standings with 11 games remaining. On Saturday, a point for Luton Town, who are currently in third place, reduced Forest’s lead above the relegation zone to three points.
The fact that Ibrahim Sangare, a midfield player who was not used as a substitute against Liverpool, returned from injury gave Nuno encouragement. Today, the Forest manager makes two changes to his starting lineup, and he is once again on the bench.
Neco Williams, Andrew Omobamidele, Murillo, and Harry Toffolo maintain their positions on the defensive line, while Matz Sels plays goal. But Ryan Yates, Danilo, and Nicolas Dominguez will constitute the midfield in what appears to be a formation switch.
Chris Wood returns from injury and is starting for the team. Morgan Gibbs-White and Divock Origi will provide him with assistance at the top of the pitch. Alongside Sangare, the other substitutes are Matt Turner, Cheikhou Kouyate, Taiwo Awoniyi, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Felipe, Moussa Niakhate, Anthony Elanga, and Willy Boly.
Forest: Sels; Williams, Omobamidele, Murillo, Toffolo; Yates, Dominguez, Danilo; Gibbs-White, Wood, Origi. Subs: Turner, Sangare, Kouyate, Awoniyi, Hudson-Odoi, Felipe, Niakhate, Elanga, Boly
