Everton now expect’substantial’ bids for Jarrad Branthwaite’s departure after Chelsea’s transfer announcement.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Everton expect “substantial” bids for Jarrad Branthwaite during the summer transfer window, after recent Chelsea news.
The newspaper said in its print edition (10 March, page 61) that the Toffees anticipate Manchester United and Chelsea to make a significant push to capture the 21-year-old, who has impressed under Sean Dyche this season.
Branthwaite, who joined Goodison Park from Carlisle, is also expected to be called up to Gareth Southgate’s England side for the March internationals ahead of this summer’s European Championship.
It has been an extremely depressing season for everyone at Goodison Park, with point deductions, off-the-field concerns, and a poor run of Premier League football dampening most fans’ spirits.
However, one of Dyche’s few bright spots has been Branthwaite’s outstanding performances at the heart of the Toffees’ defence, where he has impressed with James Tarkowski for the most of the season.
The 21-year-old’s impressive performances have piqued the curiosity of Premier League teams, despite Everton’s potential to avoid relegation to the Championship.
Fortunately for the Toffees, the defender’s new contract does not include a relegation clause, according to reports. That implies they will be able to collect a significant transfer fee, regardless of whether they remain up this season.
Hopefully, Branthwaite can help Dyche’s team stay in the Premier League for at least another season, ensure his spot at Euro 2024, and earn Everton a sizable transfer price during the summer window.
