Don Goodman delivered a clear message to Sunderland owners Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Kristjaan Speakman.

When assessing Sunderland’s season, an EFL commentator and former player blamed the club’s hierarchy for Tony Mowbray’s failure.

Don Goodman sent a message to Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Kristjaan Speakman.

Not only did Goodman imply this in terms of dismissing Mowbray, but he also claimed that they could have given the former Black Cats greater support in terms of bringing in more experienced players.

In an interview with King Casino Bonus via Sunderland Nation, Goodman stated that Sunderland’s board has admitted that they have wasted their play-off prospects due to poor decisions. It’s an admission of their error, and placing Mike Dodds in charge is an attempt to stabilize.”

“I believe they are out of the relegation battle, which I never thought I’d say, but Sunderland are out of the play-off competition. They are a youthful bunch that requires assistance from experience, which Tony Mowbray was rejected.

“It would be incorrect to suggest Sunderland has capitulated, but the sort of games they have lost in this sequence is depressing. They were on the cusp of the play-offs, losing to Birmingham, Huddersfield, and Swansea.

“Even if you’re the most stubborn member of Sunderland’s hierarchy, you have to reflect and say, ‘We made a mistake, we should have stuck with Tony Mowbray.‘” Who knows where they would have gone in the summer; there was a positive vibe surrounding the area.”

When Mowbray left, Sunderland went to former Rangers manager Michael Beale to lead the squad, but after just 12 games, he was also fired.

Goodman, on the other hand, was not surprised to see the team regress after Mowbray’s dismissal, stating that the feel-good vibe around the club vanished once he was stripped of his duties.

“The moment Tony is fired, that feel-good aspect vanishes, and Michael Beale is suddenly under pressure after joining since the supporters dislike him. “Fan power is absolutely massive,” Goodman stated.

“This is a youthful bunch of players with few experienced members to assist them through turbulent waters. It’s difficult as a young player to watch your own supporters boo you off the field and express their discontent with the new head coach. I’m not shocked that Sunderland have regressed since Tony Mowbray departed.

“Michael Beale attempted to make Sunderland more sturdy and tougher to play against, but he took away what we liked about them: their free-flowing and reckless style of play. Once it was gone, it was just a matter of time until he lost his job.

“Mike Dodds is in charge and did a good job previously, but reality is setting in. It’s an audition for him, and it’s not going well.”

As Goodman points out, with Mike Dodds now in interim leadership, the club’s fortunes on the pitch have not improved.

Since Michael Beale’s dismissal, Dodds has presided over three Championship matches, all of which have ended in loss.
