Following Saturday’s setback at Manchester United, Everton boss Sean Dyche publically chastised his players for lacking drive in front of goal. In the end, the Toffees’ attempts to break through the hosts’ defence were unsuccessful, as they were unable to prevent Premier League relegation.
Everton’s demise was caused by clumsy tackles from James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey, as Alejandro Garnacho scored two penalties for United. When going up to tuck them away, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford did not make any mistakes.
As the game came to an end, Everton and United were virtually tied for possession. The Toffees had taken 23 shots on Andre Onana’s goal, which was eight more than the winning Red Devils.
With just three goals in their previous five games, Everton poses a serious challenge for Dyche to address before their next Premier League game on March 30.
