According to insiders who spoke to Football Insider, Rangers will increase their transfer budget by almost £20 million if they are able to play in the Champions League the following year.
The Glasgow giants have closed the seven-point deficit that separated them from Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.
The team led by Philippe Clement will automatically qualify for the 2024–25 Champions League if they can maintain their position atop the standings and win the club’s 56th league championship.
Next season, the coveted European championship will adopt a Swiss-style format, dropping the group rounds and adding four more teams.
Rather, clubs will compete in a league system, which ensures that the Rangers will play at least four home games at Ibrox.
Close to a spectacular £20 million boost, Rangers
According to official Uefa papers from the 2023–24 campaign, a payout of £14 million was assured to each team that advanced to the group stage.
That amount will be increased by additional funds from the UK broadcasting market pool and coefficient payments; under the new format, prize money should rise even more the following season.
In addition, hosting Champions League games would bring in enormous matchday revenue for Rangers, especially from corporate hospitality.
Football Insider has been informed by sources that Rangers would be able to increase their summer transfer budget by almost £20 million if they qualify.
It would give Clement extra money to spend during his first summer transfer window as Rangers manager.
