Zlatan Ibrahimovic is growing increasingly important to the Milan project after returning to the club in a backroom role.
The former striker, who hung up his boots at the end of last season, played for the Rossoneri for the last three and a half years of his playing career. As the squad won the Scudetto in the 2021–2022 season, he demonstrated his importance in the locker room by supporting the younger players.
Shortly after quitting, Ibrahimovic made the decision to work in Milan’s backrooms once more, formally joining RedBird as a senior advisor. He has already begun to establish himself at Milanello and is a valuable resource for his old teammates off the game.
Ibrahimovic is playing an increasingly important part in the initiative, acting as a leader for the Milan team and personnel, as Corriere della Sera via TMW explains. He recently told the media that the team, under coach Stefano Pioli, is “happy” with his work and that Pioli is doing “a good job.”
Although the former striker openly supported Pioli, it’s no secret that he thinks Antonio Conte—who was leader of Chelsea and Juventus—might be the best person to take over in the Rossoneri dugout in the summer, preferring the former player above Thiago Motta, the other front-runner.
