Everton: Stan Collymore reacts to 2-0 defeat v Manchester United at Old Trafford

Stan Collymore reacts to Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Stan Collymore responded to Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday (9 March).

The Toffees were punished for two individual penalty situations, with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford converting from 12 yards with little response.

Despite producing several chances, Everton’s typical trend of a lack of goals this season persisted, as Sean Dyche’s side went without a win for the tenth time in the league.

On Saturday (9 March), Collymore wrote: “Can’t remember an away team having so much good possession and positions in the attacking third but looking so’meh’ when it comes to finishing as Everton.”

“There’s a team in there but they don’t want to push themselves, do they?”

Is Everton in danger of falling back into the Premier League relegation zone?

Everton fans were relieved when their appeal against the initial 10-point sanction for a Profit and Sustainability infraction was lowered to six points.

However, the Toffees have yet to win in ten league games, with their previous triumph coming against Burnley in December.

Sean Dyche’s defence is not the issue, since James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite have formed an excellent connection this season, but rather the lack of offensive presence in the last third of the play.

Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have scored five league goals this season, trailing club leader Abdoulaye Doucoure’s six.

There is a severe problem at Goodison Park that must be addressed if the Toffees are to avoid relegation for the third consecutive season.
