Everton: Stan Collymore reacts to 2-0 defeat v Manchester United at Old Trafford

After Everton’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, Stan Collymore responded. (9 March).

Two separate penalty mishaps cost the Toffees dearly as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored from 12 yards out with no opposition.

Everton’s overall theme of not scoring goals this season persisted despite their plenty of chances created, as Sean Dyche’s team was doomed to lose their tenth league game.

Collymore commented, “Can’t remember an away team having so much good possession and positions in the attacking third but look so’meh’ when it comes to finishing than Everton,” in response to X on Saturday, March 9.

“There’s a team in there but they don’t want to push themselves, do they?”

Are Everton in danger of slipping back into the Premier League relegation zone?

Everton fans were filled with a lot of relief when their appeal against the initial 10-point deduction due to a Profit and Sustainability breach was reduced to six points.

However, the Toffees are still without a victory in 10 league matches, last winning against Burnley in December.

The problem is not with Sean Dyche’s defense—James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite have been an excellent combination this season—rather it is with the lack of assault in the final third of the field.

This season, Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have combined for five goals in the league, which is still less than club leader Abdoulaye Doucoure’s six goals.

The Toffees need to address a significant issue at Goodison Park in order to avoid the possibility of relegation for a third straight season.
