Chris Sutton hits out at Celtic conspiracies in brand new Rangers verdict

Chris Sutton has hit out at Celtic “conspiracy theorists” as Rangers continue to push for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Although the Hoops have been winning in Scotland for the past few years, the Old Firm rivals are once again at war since the league crown is now in jeopardy.

Sutton feels that Celtic alone is to blame for allowing Philippe Clement’s incredible Rangers team to take first place, even if they are only two points ahead of them in the standings.

“The refs were a handy getout at the weekend but it’s not John Beaton’s fault Celtic have dropped 19 points this season,” he wrote in a piece for the Daily Record on Friday, March 9.

“The Rangers squad, who have lost five games, should not be at the top of the table; this is not the authorities’ fault. Don Robertson did not abandon this team underprepared for Europe and without enough players for a championship campaign.

Brendan Rodgers and Celtic may attempt to instill a sense of siege or even appeal to conspiracy theorists. However, they will only have themselves to blame if they can’t pull it out in the final nine games.

Michael Beale and Clement both believed that there was no possibility of winning the league before they arrived at Ibrox in October.

But since the Belgian’s arrival, the Gers have only lost two games—a 2-1 loss to Motherwell and a 2-1 loss to Celtic—and the turnaround has been amazing to watch.

Despite their best efforts to justify their team’s collapse, conspiracy theorists will always know that, with a new manager at the helm, the Rangers have clicked and are playing at a much higher level.

Even though Celtic has only lost three games in the league this year compared to Rangers’ five, Rodgers’ team has drawn far too many games, opening up a large gap in first place.

Nor does Clement’s side appear to be slowing down. Like any team, they made a mistake at Motherwell on Saturday, March 2, and if Hearts hadn’t shown up and defeated the Hoops 2-0, the outcome may have been disastrous.
