Approach made: Everton make first move to sign new gem for Dyche; he’s on his way to Finch Farm

He is a future talent.

While Premier League survival is the main emphasis on the pitch, Everton has apparently shifted its focus away from the action and towards future signings, with one young talent scheduled to arrive at Finch Farm.

News about Everton transfers

The majority of this season has been occupied with the Toffees waiting on the outcome of their appeal over a Financial Fair Play penalty they faced earlier in the season. Sean Dyche and company may now start focusing elsewhere after receiving some welcome news—their deduction has been reduced from ten to six points.

Still, if some important players leave Goodison Park, it could be a challenging summer for them. And Jarrad Branthwaite and Madou Onana are included in that. The Everton pair, who have dominated transfer rumours in recent months, are supposedly targets in high-profile transactions.

In particular, Branthwaite may depart for a high price; reports suggest that Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are among the teams interested in the defender, who may fetch up to £75 million this summer. With that kind of cash, Everton may revamp Dyche’s team, but for now, they’ve prioritised acquiring a long-term player. The Daily Record claims that Everton has launched an attempt to buy Ceiran Loney from Partick Thistle, who have given the young talent permission to visit Finch Farm the following week in anticipation of a possible transfer. The forward gets the chance to prove to Everton scouts why they should recruit him at their training facility after impressing them already.
Even though Loney is still a young player and won’t have an instant impact, signings like his are crucial indications of the kind of legacy Dyche wants to create at Everton, despite the club’s off-field issues.

Loney is a future star.

Everton’s primary focus should be on preventing additional FFP charges and ending their relegation battle, as their chances of succeeding in that regard may eventually run out. Dyche and those in charge of him must be more astute in the transfer market than ever in order to strike a balance between those two factors, particularly if they lose Branthwaite and Onana.

Rather than making the same transfer blunders they did in the past, the Toffees can redirect their focus to young players who could eventually lead Dyche’s team and turn this floundering ship around to finish in the top half of the Premier League. And Loney might have a role in it.

Given how poorly Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have performed this season, the young player wouldn’t face many challenges in getting into the first squad, which would greatly advance his prospects. Naturally, though, Loney needs to win over the people at Finch Farm the next week in order to perhaps finalise the deal that would take him out of Patrick Thistle and into Merseyside.

Dyche will be hoping to see his team finally escape the relegation zone and head for the comforts of mid-table as the gossip mill comes alive for the Toffees.
