The ‘strange’ Brendan Rodgers Celtic charge quirk as Rangers jeopardy sees Barry Ferguson buy into SFA hysteria
Following his hearing at the end of March, the Irishman might miss the match against Livingston and Philippe Clement’s team.
Baffled Barry Ferguson questions the SFA’s delay in deciding whether Brendan Rodgers would face a Celtic dugout ban.
The Hoops will face the SFA on Thursday, March 28, after the Parkhead manager received a notice of complaint for criticizing VAR referee John Beaton during the Scottish Premiership defeat to Hearts. Celtic’s manager faces a two-game suspension, preventing him from facing Livingston and the critical top-of-the-table match against Rangers on April 7.
Some Celtic supporters have criticized the timing of the hearing, which came after the accusation was issued earlier this month – while Rangers star Ferguson has emerged as a surprise booster for Rodgers with the derby just around the horizon. When asked about Rodgers’ news conference before the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Livingston, where he addressed questions on the punishment, Ferguson told Go Radio: “He probably doesn’t want to talk about it again in case he gets another game added to it.
“It’s remarkable that it takes so long to confront the panel. You could expect it to be next week rather than this week.
“I don’t understand why it takes so long to bring him up, and I’m curious how long he will be in games. You certainly know what is coming up and what game he may miss if he receives that ban.”
