Rangers in hunt for Leopold Querfeld transfer amid contract situation with rival interest from Celtic.
Leopold Querfeld of Rapid Vienna is reportedly attracting interest from Rangers after he made a name for himself in the starting lineup.
The Light Blues are among the British teams who have been considering the 20-year-old this season; his contract is scheduled to expire this summer. The outlet revealed on their website on March 7.
Along with Premier League teams Crystal Palace, Fulham, Burnley, and Wolves, as well as Championship team Leicester City, the center-back is also being watched by Celtic.
The Austrian Under-21 international has already made 61 senior appearances for Rapid after graduating from the club’s development.
Rangers are searching for a new center back in response to Celtic interest.
The center back position could use some improvement, despite the team’s generally great performance under Philippe Clement in the last few weeks.
Although Connor Goldson is still the de facto starter, he had a terrible performance against Theo Bair in Motherwell’s unexpected victory at Ibrox and then scored a horrible own goal away at Benfica in the Europa League.
Even though the two had previously played well together, his customary partner under the Belgian, John Souttar, struggled against Stuart Kettlewell’s team and later gave up a penalty for a handball in Lisbon.

It comes as no surprise that Clement and Nils Koppen are interested in expanding the team, and Querfeld’s contract status indicates that he may be available for a fair price. However, whether or not the light Blues decide to pursue the interest seriously will probably depend on whether or not the other suitors pursue it as well.
