Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United and Sean Dyche’s Everton will face each other at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United currently has 44 points from 27 games, good for sixth place in the Premier League standings.
Up to 11 points separate Erik ten Hag’s team and Aston Villa, who are now in fourth place and hold the final UEFA Champions League slot.
Although I believe it is doubtful, United, who are scouting Luca Netz, might yet be in the top four. The Red Devils must exert every effort and hold out hope that Villa and Tottenham Hotspur falter.
At the end of the season, Everton faces the possibility of being demoted to the Championship.
With 25 points from 27 games, the Toffees are currently as low as 16th in the Premier League standings. With 26 games played, Luton Town is in third place and five points below Sean Dyche’s team.
Chris Sutton backs Manchester United to win vs Everton
Chris Sutton, a former striker for Chelsea, has offered his match prediction. The BBC Sport analyst has predicted United to win all three points at Old Trafford, as you can see below.
“Everton have been in terrible form for a while now, but I still can’t say I am totally convinced Manchester United will beat them,” Sutton told BBC Sport.
“Despite losing 3-0, Sean Dyche’s team gave United a respectable game at Goodison Park in November, and I think the score will be much closer this time.”
“Although I am very tempted to gamble for a tie, I am sticking with United because I know they will somehow pull off another improbable victory.
Some people gave them credit for persevering against Manchester City on Sunday for a considerable amount of time, but I wasn’t pleased.
“There’s no denying the quality of Marcus Rashford’s goal to put United ahead, but the match was mismatched, and they trail City by a significant margin—the two teams are completely different.
“The availability of Rasmus Hojlund, United’s striker, will likely determine whether or not United wins this match.
“If he recovers from his injury, it provides them with a main offensive target. We witnessed what transpired when United lost to Fulham at Old Trafford their previous game without him.
“Sutton’s prediction: 2-1.”
