The ‘strange’ Brendan Rodgers Celtic charge quirk as Rangers jeopardy sees Barry Ferguson buy into SFA hysteria
Confused Barry Ferguson acknowledges that he finds it incomprehensible that the SFA is delaying their decision on Brendan Rodgers’ potential Celtic dugout ban.
The Parkhead manager received a notice of complaint for his remarks on VAR official John Beaton during the controversial Scottish Premiership loss to Hearts. The Hoops are scheduled to play the SFA on Thursday, March 28. The Celtic boss is facing a two-game suspension, which would prevent him from playing in the vital matchup between Rangers and Livingston at Ibrox on April 7 at the top of the table.
With the derby match quickly approaching, Rangers star Ferguson unexpectedly stepped in as a cheerleader for Rodgers, drawing criticism from some Celtic supporters regarding the hearing’s scheduling following the charge’s announcement earlier this month. Ferguson said on Go Radio when asked about Rodgers’ press conference prior to the Scottish Cup quarterfinal versus Livingston, during which he answered questions regarding the punishment: “He is probably not wanting to talk about it again in case he gets another game added on to it.”
“The length of time it takes to come up against the panel is odd. You would expect that it might occur next week rather than this week.
“I don’t understand why it takes so long for him to be mentioned and how much gaming time he will get. You are clearly aware of the upcoming events and the game he would miss if he receives that ban.”
