Everton news: Update emerges as Burnley consider legal action

Everton news: Update surfaces as Burnley consider legal action.

Burnley are considering suing the Premier League after Everton were granted back four points after appealing, according to the Daily Mail.

The news agency stated on 6 March that the Clarets are taking legal counsel regarding the available possibilities.

Leeds United and Leicester City are also considering legal action but it is not guaranteed that they will go ahead.

Burnley right to be disgruntled by Everton decision?

While the Toffees will be delighted at getting four points back, Burnley have every reason to be upset by that decision.

They contend that had the Premier League enforced spending restrictions in real-time, they might not have been relegated.

Burnley’s relegation may be considered as a consequence of the league’s reluctance to act fast on Everton’s overspending, leading to an unfair disadvantage.

Moreover, the inconsistency in implementing spending rules, especially evident with Manchester City and Chelsea’s success despite financial backing, weakens the integrity of the league.

If the Premier League continues to turn a blind eye to financial fair play violations by elite clubs, it sets a hazardous precedent.
