Everton face battle to sign Hull City star Jacob Greaves

It appears that the Toffees will have competition in their attempt to sign the Tigers’ defender.

According to Hull Live, Everton is not the only Premier League team interested in Hull City defender Jacob Greaves.

Greaves has frequently been connected to a move away from MKM Stadium, but the Tigers hold the upper hand in negotiations with the midfielder.

The Toffees target signed a deal in August 2022 that would have kept him at the MKM Stadium until 2026, so Hull would be well-positioned to negotiate if offers for him were made during the summer transfer window.

In addition to his 2026 contract, Liam Rosenior’s team has the option to extend it by one more year. You have a feeling that they will exercise this option at some time to maximise their chances of receiving a respectable price when the defender decides to sell in the future.

Nonetheless, Hull’s influence should not be undervalued, as evidenced by the loan signings of Ryan Giles and Fabio Carvalho in the January transfer window.

The Tigers may be confident in their ability to convince Greaves to stay in East Yorkshire for the foreseeable future now that the club has brought those two in.

And if they get promoted to the top flight in a few months, it might be even simpler for them to hold onto Greaves.

Even if Coventry City’s victory in the middle of the week came as a setback to them, Rosenior’s team, who are presently seated in sixth position, control their own destiny as they aim to guarantee a play-off spot.

Jacob Greaves sparks interest from the Premier League

This week, it was rumoured that the Toffees are interested in Greaves. Greaves has led the Tigers into the promotion race this season and put in some outstanding performances.

Given that Jarrad Branthwaite has been connected to a few of the Merseyside club’s top-tier competitors, this interest isn’t really surprising.

Speaking of Premier League teams, Hull Live reports that other teams in that league are keeping a watch on Greaves, suggesting that the Toffees aren’t the only elite team following him.

On one condition, Hull City can afford to take a firm stand against Jacob Greaves.

At the end of the season, Greaves will essentially have three years left on his deal because to the contract extension option.

Being in that situation is ideal for Hull since it provides them with two choices.

They could afford to hold out for a very reasonable price for him, or they may decide to keep him at any costs.

They should expect to receive some aggressive offers for the 23-year-old during the summer transfer window, given that he appears to be attracting a lot of attention.

However, the Tigers must make sure they are following the financial regulations.

They probably can’t take a really hard line on the centre back if they run the risk of breaking them until they sell another important player, such as Jaden Philogene. That is, to be fair, a possibility.
