Everton: Alan Brazil rages over ‘joke’ point deduction update live on talkSPORT.
Alan Brazil has conceded that it is “just a joke” that Everton might still face a second points deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines.
The Toffees have been charged with a second alleged breach of their league’s financial fair play regulations, having managed to reduce their point loss for their previous charge to six points, having originally lost 10.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has stated that the potential punishment is a distraction for the players and Brazil has been left upset by the amount of time it has taken the Premier League to come to a decision.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (7 March, 7:53) he said: “Everton saw their 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League financial rules reduced to six, but could yet face more penalties.
There is so much ambiguity around Goodison Park at this moment in time with a decision yet to be reached over 777 Partners’ takeover clearance, combined with the lack of clarity regarding the point deduction scenario.
While some have claimed that the players’ focus should be exclusively on things on the playing field, the off-the-field issues should be immensely important for players as it might well have a big impact on their future.
The independent commission hasn’t been able to examine the Toffees’ second point deduction until they had made a verdict over their original appeal, but it remains to be known how brutally they’ll punish Sean Dyche’s team this time.
Hopefully, the commission’s decision-making will be a bit more rational on this occasion, however, Everton supporters won’t be holding their breath given the controversial judgments previously made this season.
