As Sunderland gets ready for Southampton, they fall farther down the Championship table following their defeat to Cardiff.

Sunderland slip further down Championship table after Cardiff result as Cats prepare for Southampton

During Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at Leeds, Jack Clarke, a graduate of the Leeds United academy, made his debut at Elland Road.

He was promptly sent back to Leeds after signing with Tottenham, but he struggled on the field and ultimately signed with Sunderland in the northeast.

As the Black Cats are unlikely to mount a late charge for the Championship play-offs, Clarke’s future at Sunderland now seems questionable. The possibility of the Lilywhites considering re-signing former Leeds player Carlton Palmer has been brought up.
Clarke made just four senior games for Spurs after stints on loan at Stoke, QPR, and Sunderland. After that, he made a permanent move to Sunderland, where he has played in 105 games and assisted on 49 goals.

Despite being out due to injury at the moment, he has played in 35 games for Sunderland this season and scored 15 goals with four assists.

According to Calcio Mercato, Sunderland is apparently holding out for £21 million, since Lazio’s January bid of £15 million was rejected.

Dean Jones recently said on GIVEMESPORT that Leeds would look to sign Jack Clarke if they were to get promoted. Palmer, a former Whites midfielder, responded to these rumors by telling Football League World that the team would never be able to sign Clarke.

It seems improbable to me that Clarke will make a comeback. Leeds must be marketed first and foremost. I just don’t see him returning to his old club, even though a lot of clubs are interested in him.
