Announcement Soon: Celtic exit transfer finalised after club beat two rivals to deal

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic star Liel Abada has finished his medical in preparation for his £10 million transfer to Charlotte FC. The agreement is expected to be revealed early next week. With the exception of the necessary steps to obtain a visa, it is thought that his permanent departure from Parkhead to the MLS team is almost complete.

For the Israel international, the Hoops will receive an initial payment of £8 million, with potential add-ons worth up to £10 million. One of the largest transfer fees in Celtic’s history is represented by his departure.

Celtic could receive up to £10million for Liel Abada

Early on Sunday, March 3, Football Insider exclusively disclosed that Celtic had accepted a proposal from Charlotte FC and that a formal agreement had been reached. After speaking with Abada, it’s thought that the US team signed him before two of its MLS opponents. Abada’s major personal concerns over the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict caused him to become uneasy at the Glasgow giants.

Prior to the violence in his country intensifying, the 22-year-old signed a new four-year contract with Celtic in September of last year, which would have kept him with the team until 2027. Despite the club’s warnings, the Green Brigade, the greatest fan base of the Celtics, regularly flew Palestinian flags during games. Due to personal problems, Abada has missed the team’s last four league games. Manager Brendan Rodgers acknowledged that it has been a “challenge” for the forward to find his best form. He totaled 29 goals and 22 assists in 112 games for the Hoops in all competitions.

In his first season in 2021–2022, he was named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year, and throughout his time with the team, he won two league titles. After losing 2-0 to Hearts on Sunday, March 3, Celtic is now in second place in the Scottish Premier League, only two points behind Rangers. Then, on Sunday afternoon, 10 March, they play Livingston at Parkhead.
