Nick Montgomery Rangers refs claim after Philippe Clement kicked off pitch moan

Nick Montgomery has refuted Philippe Clement’s assertion that Rangers players are “kicked off the pitch” and asserts that they have profited from numerous calls made by the referees.

Over the weekend, a number of clubs were upset with referee and video assistant referee rulings, and Clement was particularly enraged with a challenge on Ross McCausland by Motherwell’s Dan Casey that left the teenage winger on crutches but went unpunished. The Belgian demanded that his talents receive more protection.

The Hibees manager was questioned on the remarks made by his rival, and they now play Hibs in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals on Sunday. Montgomery maintains that the Rangers are treated no differently than any other team and that the league is a physical one overall. He also believes that many of their decisions have worked out well.

They haven’t been too much impacted, in my opinion. Since he entered the game, they have won a number of them, and I believe he has done a really fantastic job, so I wouldn’t say I believe they are being treated worse than anyone else.

“I’ve seen the games they were on that incredible run; they’ve had a lot of luck and made a lot of wise moves. However, that doesn’t always happen, and Motherwell deserves all the credit for winning.

“We’ve been playing well lately, so regardless of who we were playing against or how they fared over the weekend, we would be confident heading in. They also play Benfica in the middle of the week. That’s a  little travel. However, they have a roster with enough depth to handle that.

Following the Motherwell game, Clement declared: “This season, we have already had a number of players sent off the field.” I believe that they require improved protection.”
