‘INCREDIBLE’ STRIKER EVERTON SOLD SCORES ANOTHER HAT-TRICK WITH 3 GOALS IN 32 MINS

Former Everton striker Ellis Simms now has two hat-tricks in his last three Coventry City appearances as his former employers toil in front of goal in the Premier League.

As Sean Dyche faced the cameras following Everton’s 3-1 loss to West Ham United at home on Saturday, one could have forgiven him for thinking he was experiencing a strong case of déjà vu.

The Toffees lost the decisive match for what felt like the countless times in 2023–24 alone as a result of squandering opportunities at one end. Despite Alphonse Areola’s outstanding performance in goal, the belief that Everton is a team that never seems to be able to find the back of the net persisted.

With that in mind, the form of Ellis Simms – sold by Everton last summer – feels like insult added to injury, even if the striker’s quickfire hat-tricks have come against very limited opposition.

After ending Maidstone United’s FA Cup dream with a fierce treble in late February, Simms – who was brought in following the departure of talisman Viktor Gyokeres – scored another hat-trick as Coventry ran riot against doomed Rotherham United on Tuesday night.

His three goals against the hapless Millers, remarkably, came in just 32 first-half minutes.

“He should be confident,” Coventry boss Mark Robins said of a man who’s one and only Premier League goal came in a draw away to Chelsea in May 2023 (Coventry Telegraph). “There was once or twice when he got the ball and gave it away. And when he realises this he’ll be awesome.

“Absolutely awesome!

And when he isn’t thinking about anything, you can see that he can finish with both his right and left foot. One of the major factors is that he just finished.
The former Hearts and Sunderland loanee, Simms, had had a rough go of things with the Sky Blues. But Robins is optimistic that the 23-year-old’s run of six goals in his previous three games will mark a turning point in his career.
Robins believes that when Kasey Palmer slid him in with a chance to score at West Brom last week, “he took it early and hit it over the bar.”But he could have finished if he had taken his time and perhaps even pushed it a little bit closer to the objective. It forces the keeper to work even if he places it in the same spot and strikes the target—you never know.
“When he realizes that he’s going to be some player, he has incredible strength and pace.”
