I would love to come back’ – Ex-Rangers star wants Ibrox reunion with former teammates

Rangers: Filip Helander would love Ibrox return as defender eyes reunion in Govan.

Former Rangers defender Filip Helander has stated that he hopes to attend a game at Ibrox and reunite with his former teammates.

The Swedish centre-back spent four years at Ibrox, from 2019 to 2023, before signing for Odense in the Danish Superligaen on a free transfer.

Despite spending several seasons with the Scottish giants, Helander has only made 60 appearances but is looking forward to rejoining with his former teammates and watching from the stands as Philippe Clement leads them to a successful season.

In an interview with GlasgowWorld on March 6, he stated, “I spent four good years at Rangers, especially my first two years where I got to play a lot, and then I didn’t get to play much the last two seasons due to injury.”

“I wish I could have done more in the last two years, but I wish these guys the best. To be fair, they were always concerned about whether I would be fit at the moment. I have no harsh feelings.

“I simply wish them luck and am still pleased of my time there. We were able to win 55, which was a significant accomplishment for all of us, and I will continue to assist them as much as possible. I’d love to return one day to see if any of the guys are still there and witness a decent game.”

Filip Helander reflects on his time at Rangers.

If Helander returns to Ibrox after a four-year absence, the defender will most likely be greeted warmly.

Despite starting 13 of Odense’s 20 league matches, the 30-year-old is unlikely to appear for Rangers due to the presence of Connor Goldson (31) and Leon Balogun (35).

The current drama at Ibrox, which Clement has been writing since taking over from Michael Beale in October, is creating waves around the football world and might lead to a highly interesting finale to the season.

During Beale’s rule, the Gers’ chances of winning the Scottish Premiership appeared to be over. Under the Belgian, Celtic has been knocked off the top spot in recent weeks, reigniting hopes for success.

In addition, the Gers remain in the Europa League, with upcoming meetings against Benfica, which might ensure Ibrox is full of silverware by the end of the season.
