Ex-Everton scout speculates ‘big breath’ taken by Man City and Chelsea after appeal verdict

Ex-Everton scout speculates ‘big breath’ taken by Man City and Chelsea after appeal judgment.

Manchester City and Chelsea will be relieved following the Premier League’s decision to decrease the points deduction issued to Everton.

That is according to former Goodison Park scout Bryan King, with the Toffees having their 10-point punishment slashed to six points.

The Merseyside outfit rose from 17th to 15th position in the Premier League table following the judgment, having contested their initial charge.

Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “I would think there was a big breath taking by both clubs. But what are the charges? What are the written charges? We’ve seen Manchester City with 115 charges, for what?

“The same with Chelsea. We must look at Chelsea, a club that are misspending money and signing players who originally were not good enough.

“The fact with Manchester City is that whatever they’ve done, they have been in a position financially to sign good players, and that’s what they’ve done.

“So it’s going to be very interesting to see exactly what charges are proven and what are not. Whoever was spending the money at Chelsea, they had no idea what they were buying.”

Is the Everton scenario good news for Manchester City and Chelsea?

Everton were incensed at their punishment earlier this season, which prompted them to plummet low down the Premier League standings.

A terrific run enabled them swiftly climb the rinks, but a dismal run since then means they are now back in a tense relegation struggle.

Moving up to 15th place was a major boost, but the 3-1 loss to West Ham on Saturday (2 March), along with other results, means they have slipped down to 16th.
