Homecoming transfer link and rival stats suggest Rangers decision made on international

Borna Barisic’s performance at Rugby Park needs to be far better if he hopes to continue at Rangers and secure a new contract.

The players gave the game a generous 2/10, with Ridvan Yilmaz saving the day at halftime and Gérard Clement, the manager of the Gers, appearing to be inclined to let the Croatian leave Ibrox at the end of the campaign.

Over his six seasons with the team, the 31-year-old has been a good addition for Rangers, but now is the perfect moment to let Borna Barisic go and take a different approach for the team. He will play football somewhere else next season.

Borna Barisic is already preparing for Rangers’ summer departure.

Recent rumours claim that the seasoned left-back will receive plenty of offers.

Given that Dinamo Zagreb has been associated with them for the past two windows, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Barisic return home to take care of unresolved business.

When he was younger, he was at the Croatian champions, and they might be building on their victory in the highly competitive Supersport HNL title campaign.

But the future is what we have witnessed from Ridvan Yilmaz in the last few months.

At first, Barisic appeared to be preferred over Ridvan by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Michael Beale, and Philippe Clement, but now that he is healthy and has played a number of games, there is only one victor.

Although Barisic was never the fastest, he appeared sluggish and uneasy in a one-on-one match against Killie.

Something the little Turk can never be accused of.

Borna Barisic is more frequently benched than he should be for other reasons, as evidenced by the DataMB study between the two Rangers left backs.

Although it would seem that the 6 feet 1 inch tall Barisic would be more adept in the air, Ridvan is the obvious winner when it comes to beating opponents and moving the ball up the pitch.

The one advantage Barisic had over Ridvan in the past was that he was a better ball crosser, but in recent weeks, we’ve also witnessed how much the younger player has improved—to the point where he was our most threatening player in the loss to Motherwell.

There is only ever going to be one result when your one trick isn’t good enough to keep you on the team.

Given the rumours that Jeffre would sign a summer contract with the Rangers, Borna Barisic deserves recognition for his contributions, but please remember to give over the pass code or locker key when you leave Auchenhowie.
