4 unseen Philippe Clement Rangers answers at live fan sitdown revealed from Celtic wish to Benfica roar
Asking questions about life at the Light Blues, the manager went on stage at Glasgow’s Armadillo.
After Jim White performed on Sunday night at Armadillo alongside Rangers manager Philippe Clement and Ibrox legend Graeme Souness, the curtain has finally come down on their behind-the-scenes discussions.
The Glasgow crowd, which was jam-packed, supported the Belgian manager who has guided his team to the top of the Scottish Premiership and beyond Celtic with nine games left in the current season. The presenter from talkSPORT asked questions of the Belgian. With Benfica being the next obstacle to overcome in the first leg of the Europa League on Thursday, Clement, who has already brought the Viaplay Cup back to Ibrox this season, will aim to continue the winning streak.
While fans will have learned a lot from the gaffer in front of the audience alongside Souness, White has revealed details of an interview conducted
behind closed doors in the SEC’s hallways. He revealed the conversation in a talkSPORT interview on Tuesday, saying: “I was on stage with Philippe Clement in his first season as the SEC and Rangers manager, of course, and I spoke to him about life at Rangers and how he found it thus far.
Clement began by saying, “I’ve never seen a city so passionate about football.” Living here is fantastic, but working here is even better. Observing everyone’s happiness fills me with so much energy, therefore those were the only things I considered significant.
What else, though, did the Rangers manager and the former Sky Sports host discuss?Every unseen question from the event is detailed in Record Sport.
Has it (the job) surprised you?
“Not really surprised because I spoke with Thomas Buffel a lot before I came. I knew a lot of things already. If you live it’s different.”
The supporters have taken to you. What is your philosophy?
“I enjoy watching the intense gameplay of the game. I want a team that doesn’t waste opportunities and makes a lot of them. In this sense, winning games and prizes is what matters most to me. I believe that we are a great fit in that regard. These are the topics that the club members discussed.
It was quite the weekend. Your Rangers lose then Celtic lose. That doesn’t happen very often…
Yes, but I’m not making a lot of calculations. I would rather see as many points as possible dropped by the opposing squad. After Motherwell’s defeat in the game yesterday, we were disappointed. After the game, you may view all the stats, and you needed to win. To realize that is also an element of football. The lads persevered to the very end, but things didn’t go our way. You must draw the appropriate conclusions, and we must take lessons from it.
Next up for you, Benfica in the Europa League. Is there a way to pass them?
“I believe there is a method to surpass everyone; that is the team’s current mindset. We have to use all of our effort and be alert. You also require some good fortune. In addition to having a far larger budget than Rangers, this club is full with talented young players. It would be quite spectacular if we could qualify against them.
