‘I’ve felt it’: Sean Dyche says something ‘strange’ is happening at Goodison which he can’t understand

After losing 3-1 to West Ham United at Goodison Park on Saturday, Everton was left lamenting wasted opportunities.

After being up thanks to a header from Beto, the Toffees were pulled back and then let two more goals in stoppage time.

This is the longest losing streak for Sean Dyche’s team since 1984—ten Premier League games without a victory.

Despite their loss against Aston Villa, it keeps them in the running for relegation, as they now trail 18th-place Luton Town by five points.

Following the game, the Everton manager made an appearance and stated that it was time to accept responsibility for missing opportunities.

Sean Dyche exhorts teammates to assume accountability

Before the half, Beto wasted a 12-yard spot attempt, and Everton had a 2.88 xG to West Ham’s 1.46.

Hence, they shouldered the responsibility for the loss after failing to take a chance once more.

If Everton is to survive, they need to improve their scoring position since they now rank third in the division.

In fact, not even Dyche can adequately explain why the issue persists.

Everton has made every effort to score more goals at home, but the team’s inability to finish has plagued them all season. Even the manager of the Toffees acknowledges that it is strange that the problem keeps hurting his team’s chances of winning.

Dyche said to evertontv following the game, “I try to tell the truth about the performances.” It’s a respectable rendition. Games can be won with such performance, but you can’t keep creating those opportunities and losing. I have to stop claiming that the xG is insane. I can’t say that all the time.

“The opportunities are visible to everyone. It’s past time we accepted accountability and got players putting goals on the board. That is up to myself, the coaches, and the players who are actually on the pitch.

“It’s just something weird going on at Goodison that I can’t figure out.” I wish I could be there to score. This place has erupted, and I have felt it. Why wouldn’t you want to be able to see clearly enough to go try and score a goal?

Sean Dyche needs to address the “strange” Goodison Park problem.

In their 14 games at Goodison Park this season, Everton has only scored 15 goals, and Dyche is having trouble figuring out why.

The manager of the Toffees made mention to how a goal can ignite the crowd and how he needs to use that as motivation for his team as the season draws to a close. The players need to capitalise on the fervent Goodison supporters.

The Everton supporters have great faith in Beto, even after a disappointing first season, and this belief was reinforced when he scored the game’s first goal.

That should serve as motivation for unconfident forwards like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and others to win over their home crowd, who haven’t had much to cheer about lately.

Before the international break, the Merseysiders have one more game to get ready for their Saturday trip to Old Trafford to play Manchester United.
