‘From my understanding’: Journalist shares what Ross Wilson is really doing at Nottingham Forest right now

Football journalist Graeme Bailey has shared what the role of Ross Wilson at Nottingham Forest actually entails.

Wilson was named the Reds’ new sporting director in April 2023 after Filippo Giraldi left the team.

When transfers weren’t happening at key points during the summer, Wilson received some unjustified criticism.

Bailey has now revealed the true position that Wilson performs at Forest, behind the scenes.

When Wilson initially took Giraldi’s position last year, the fan base frequently posed this question.

Wilson irritated Forest fans throughout the summer because the team was moving slowly in the transfer market.

Things did start to get better towards the end of the transfer window, and the team signed 13 new players in the summer.

Now, Nottingham Forest News has been informed by HITC source Graham Bailey that Wilson is highly involved at the City Ground based on his hearings.

Bailey remarked, “Ross is an amazing operator. I don’t mean to offend Forest, but he managed Rangers to a really high standard and assembled that team there. We have seen the work he accomplished at Southampton, and he truly is a superb operator.

“He’s very than capable of overseeing every facet of Forest, and I think he’s involved with everything that goes on behind the scenes. He is quite knowledgeable about the world game and has a wealth of experience.

“It’s amazing, in my opinion, how much business Forest has done and the players they’ve managed to sign, Ross probably included in this as well.

Ross, as far as I can tell, is active in every facet of the club. He will be very involved in the football aspect of things because he is passionate about football.

Forest fans need to cut Sporting Director some slack

Bailey is accurate. Overall, Forest had a very successful summer transfer window, and Wilson appears to have played a significant role.

Nuno Espirito Santo is having a great time playing Gonzalo Montiel, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Nuno Tavares, and Ibrahim Sangare, Anthony Elanga, Nicolas Dominguez, and Murillo.

It goes without saying that the additions of Matt Turner, Odysseas Vlachodimos, and Andréy Santos haven’t been successful, but no team in the world can claim them all!

It appears that Forest is fortunate to have a sporting director with Wilson’s level of experience.

Although he is still relatively new to his employment at City Ground, his involvement might make Forest appear like a lot superior football team if given enough time to perform.
