Richard Keys appeared to be visibly irritated live on air at the delay over the Everton and Nottingham Forest PSR punishments.
The host of beIN SPORTS was careful to warn viewers that before the Premier League season is out, the two might still lose points.
Though an appeal could take up to a week after the campaign ends, a decision is anticipated later this month.
Keys sighed as the Premier League table appeared on screen, saying, “Every time I see the bottom of the table, I still have to explain that Everton and Nottingham Forest are facing charges of financial irregularities” [March 3, 6:10 p.m.].
Everton and Nottingham Forest charged with PSR breaches
Supporters of the Toffees are by now accustomed to the uncertainty, having already seen 10 points taken away from them this season—four of which have subsequently been restored.
The primary issue is that the legal proceedings will unavoidably continue until the end of the current season, meaning that the ultimate Premier League standings won’t be finalised until later in May.
That is presuming that either Everton or Forest receive a point punishment, which is currently the consensus.
Even though it seems to irritate him, Keys will need to constantly educate people back home that the Premier League table does not always convey the whole story at this point.
To ensure that any additional point deduction is less of a problem than it is already seeming to be, all Everton can do is start picking up victories.
