Daka dropped, 4-2-3-1: The predicted Leicester City XI to face Sunderland

The starting lineup for Leicester City’s matchup with Sunderland has been examined here.

When Leicester City visits Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday, they’ll be hoping to resume their winning ways.

The Foxes are now experiencing a losing streak of three games, which has reduced their lead at the top to only three points. This is something the team hasn’t experienced all season.

Leicester has dropped its last three games against Leeds United, Middlesbrough, and QPR. On Saturday afternoon, the Rs pulled off an unexpected 2-1 victory at the King Power Stadium.

Due to that outcome, Enzo Maresca’s team’s comfortable advantage has been cut, giving Ipswich Town, Leeds, and Southampton a chance to win the Championship title as well as automatic promotion. Currently, the teams are separated by just eight points.

Championship Table (As it stands March 4th)
Team P GD Pts
1 Leicester City 35 40 78
2 Ipswich Town 35 25 75
3 Leeds United 35 37 73
4 Southampton 35 24 70
5 West Brom 35 18 59
6 Hull City 35 7 56
7 Norwich City 35 9 55
8 Preston North End 35 -5 53

After a tough few weeks off the pitch for the team, Sunderland is also on a losing streak and appears to be out of the play-off race. The Foxes will be eager to bounce back to winning ways when they travel to face them on Tuesday.

Here at Football League World, we’ve examined Leicester City’s potential starting lineup versus Sunderland as the match draws near.

GK: Mads Hermansen

For Championship games this season, Mads Hermansen has been Leicester’s first choice in goal, and that is unlikely to alter for this match and the remainder of the campaign.

RB: Hamza Choudhury

On Saturday, Hamza Choudhury took over at right back in lieu of Ricardo Pereira.

Having filled the position on a few occasions this season, the 26-year-old is no stranger to it, and he will probably start there again against the Black Cats.

CB: Ben Nelson

Jannik Vestergaard, the centre back who received ten yellow cards, will serve his second suspension and will not play for the Foxes in this game.

In an unexpected move, Maresca started young defender Ben Nelson, while Leicester’s Callum Doyle and Conor Coady were on the bench.

Nelson established himself by scoring the Foxes’ goal in their 2-1 loss to QPR. Based on that performance, he may get the start on Tuesday.

CB: Wout Faes

Vestergaard and Wout Faes have developed a strong combination this season, but as previously indicated, Faes will be without his defensive partner on Tuesday.

Faes will therefore once again lead Leicester from behind, which shouldn’t be a problem considering how well he’s performed this season.

LB: James Justin

This season, James Justin has firmly established himself as the starting left-back, as evidenced by his persistence in that role even with Pereira sidelined by injury.

Given Pereira’s absence, Maresca will look to the 26-year-old, who has provided goals and assists this season, to carry the danger from full-back.

CM: Harry Winks

Given that the midfielder has only missed one league game this season, Harry Winks is likely the first name on Leicester’s roster every week.

For the Foxes to try to snap their bad run of form, they will need Winks’ experience and technical proficiency, therefore his presence is still crucial.

CM: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Maresca will be looking to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to step up and be heard as they attempt to escape this precarious circumstance.

Having been outstanding throughout the season, the midfield player will undoubtedly be hoping to increase his tally of 10 goals and 12 assists in the Championship.

RW: Issahaku Fatawu

Issahaku Fatawu, who has been a standout player for Leicester this season, will be looking to put an end to the team’s losing streak.

As Leicester looks to win three points at Sunderland this week, Fatawu, who was a hero for the Foxes in their FA Cup victory last week, will seek to be one again.

CAM: Tom Cannon

Dennis Praet was injured for Leicester during the match against QPR, thus Maresca will be trying to figure something out.

Playing Tom Cannon, who helps Jamie Vardy, the striker, in this role could be one way to provide an answer. This season, the 21-year-old needs to exercise patience; on Tuesday, he might receive just his fourth league start.

LW: Stephy Mavididi

With his goal and assist totals at the top of the pitch, Stephy Mavididi has been a welcome addition to the Foxes this season.

The 25-year-old, though, has had a bit of a dry spell lately; his most recent goal came against Swansea City. Maresca is hoping the winger can get back on track for the season’s final stretch.

ST: Jamie Vardy

This season, Maresca hasn’t over-relied on Jamie Vardy; instead, the striker has been used occasionally and rested on the bench in other contests.

With 30 minutes remaining in the match against QPR, the striker was substituted in. So, Vardy might start for Maresca’s front line on Tuesday night as Leicester looks to go back to winning ways.
