Rangers advance on talks to agree John Lundstram deal – sources
The 30-year-old midfield maestro has already started initial negotiations to extend his current contract with the Glasgow giants, which runs out at the end of May.
Lundstram has been excellent since Philippe Clement took over in October, and Rangers do not want to lose him since he is regarded as essential to the manager’s long-term goals.
The former Sheffield United player is a top earner at Ibrox after joining the team on a free transfer in the summer of 2021, thus the club’s executives are aware that they will need to offer him lucrative terms.
The Premier League and other teams south of the border are also interested in the centre midfield player.
Talks are progressing, and Lundstram is “very keen” to renew at Rangers.
However, negotiations for a new contract are well under way, and Rangers are optimistic that a deal can be made in the upcoming weeks.
Following a strong 2023–24 campaign thus far, a well-placed source has informed Football Insider that Lundstram is “very keen” to renew at Ibrox.
This season, the Englishman has made 41 appearances in all competitions, including 26 starts in the Scottish Premiership.
As the exciting championship match between Rangers and Celtic develops, he has participated in all ten of the team’s league games for the entire ninety minutes.
Since joining Rangers, Lundstram has played in 141 games overall. He was a vital part of the team that advanced to the Europa League final in 2022.
A number of Gers stars, including Jon McLaughlin, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, and Leon Balogun, have contracts expiring in May, including the midfielder.
