Sunderland and Leicester City team and injury news with 12 ruled out and one doubt
With several players out for both teams, Sunderland is getting ready for their Championship matchup against Leicester at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats, who have now lost four straight games, will be hoping to recover from their 1-0 loss to Norwich on Saturday. Leicester, the league leaders, are also struggling as they have dropped their previous three league encounters against Middlesbrough, Leeds, and QPR.
Before their match at the Stadium of Light, below is the most recent injury and squad news pertaining to Sunderland and Leicester:
1. Outgoing Patrick Roberts (Sunderland)
Roberts’ hamstring injury took him off the pitch in the last moments of Sunderland’s match against Huddersfield last month, and he hasn’t returned to first team practice yet.
2. Leicester’s Jannik Vestergaard – OUT
This season, the center-back has started 32 of Leicester’s 35 league games. However, he will serve the second of his two-game suspension after receiving 10 yellow cards.
Bradley Dack, a Sunderland resident OUT Dack hasn’t played since Sunderland’s Boxing Day victory against Hull because of a hamstring problem. The 30-year-old has been making progress in his recuperation at the Academy of Light, but he is not yet in the running to be chosen.
4. Not in: Ricardo Pereira (Leicester)
Pereira has made 30 league starts for Leicester this year, but he was sidelined by a hamstring injury on Saturday that prevented him from playing against QPR. After this month’s international break, the full-back is not expected to play again.
