Rangers at Motherwell: Tam McManus gives score prediction after news out of Ibrox.
Tam McManus thinks being without Oscar Cortes is “a blow” for Rangers, but one he expects them to manage with against Motherwell.
January signing Cortes has been ruled out indefinitely as a result of an injury he received in the 2-1 midweek triumph against Kilmarnock.
Todd Cantwell is also sidelined for Saturday’s (2 March) showdown with Motherwell, but Hibernian attacker McManus is picking the Gers to overcome.
“Cortes has picked up an injury, which is a blow, and Cantwell is out,” McManus said on PLZ Soccer’s Saturday Preview Show [2 March, 0m 46s].
“Their squad is getting tested now with European games coming up. They’re on a tremendous run, picking up wins even while not playing well. I predict they’ll win 3-0.”
Cortes has had a fantastic start to life at Ibrox as he scored and helped in last week’s 5-0 win over Hearts.
The attacker’s lay-off is therefore a setback, but it is hardly the end of the world, even if the likes of Cantwell and Abdallah Sima are also out.
Philippe Clement has plenty of other choices to select from, with Ross McCausland the most feasible option to start out on the left.
Rangers have pushed aside pretty much all opponents since Clement took over, and that should be no different against Motherwell.
That is not to go ahead of ourselves, but having confidence ahead of games is never a bad thing – and the Gers have a bucketload of that.
With Celtic not in action until the following day, this is a wonderful chance to set up a five-point buffer.
On the basis of the past five months or so, there is no reason to assume anything other than a triumph is feasible.
