Celtic have now made contact- talks underway for midfielder.
Wednesday’s performance against Dundee puts the player in control of the discussions, which will now become more urgent.
The Daily Mail reports:
CELTIC are looking to sign teenage midweek goalscorer Daniel Kelly to a new deal.
The 18-year-old midfielder made an impressive Premiership debut against Dundee, scoring his first professional goal in a 7-1 victory for Brendan Rodgers’ team.Kelly is out of contract at the end of 2024 and is already garnering serious interest from Bundesliga powers Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, as well as English clubs.
Celtic have already contacted the Scottish youngster’s representation to set up talks on a new contract before he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club this summer.
Kelly has remained on the bench since the end of the winter break, and despite Odin Thiago Holm’s return to fitness, he has held his position.
With Reo Hatate injured and David Turnbull transferred to Cardiff in January, competition for midfield positions has suddenly dwindled.
Kelly’s contract demands should be reasonable as a Celtic fan, but his agent will be aware of what is available elsewhere and anticipate the going rate for the 18-year-old midfielder.
