Malik Tillman blown away by Celtic vs Rangers clashes as he makes PSV-Feyenoord admission
Malik Tillman acknowledges that throughout his brief tenure as a Rangers player, he was impressed by Old Firm matches.The 21-year-old midfielder competed against Celtic five teams in league and cup play, including a Scottish Cup semi-final and Viaplay Cup final, while on loan at Ibrox during the 2022–2023 season. Even though he and his team did not end up winning that season, the Bayern loanee was nonetheless in awe by the event and the energy.
Playing in derbies against Feyenoord, he is currently with PSV, still on loan from the German powerhouses but likely to become a permanent fixture. However, he maintains that the well-known Glasgow match is “on another level” to that and has described the experience of playing there, including the special feature of having no away fans.”I recall a great deal of stress. I played for the Rangers, and while we didn’t win one, it was still a fantastic experience.”Following the initial encounter with Celtic, tickets for away fans were withdrawn. After that, you played in a stadium where everyone was rooting against you. Nobody applauded if you scored.
“The games were insane, something really different. We have a rivalry with Feyenoord at PSV, but it’s not the same in Glasgow.
“It’s about different things too because when the supporters of the two clubs fight with each other, then it also concerns matters like religion for example.”
