Everton takeover exclusive: Wyness reveals two groups ready to hijack deal

According to former Everton manager Keith Wyness, two US parties are ready to sabotage the takeover agreement with 777 Partners.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated that he thinks a takeover coup will occur during an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

In September, Miami-based investors 777 Partners and Farhad Moshiri, the chairman of Toffees, reached an agreement on a £500 million acquisition.

They are still waiting on the Premier League’s clearance to finalise the transaction, and worries about their capacity to secure money are beginning to surface.

According to Football Insider, as the transaction nears its conclusion, 777 Partners will hold urgent negotiations with the Premier League.

An exclusive deal could constitute a roadblock in the Everton takeover attempt.

Wyness responded, “I do believe it’s going to happen,” when asked if he thought the Everton takeover will be hacked.

“So far, two significant American sports organisations have been connected.”

But once more, I don’t think it’s possible for them to actually interact with Everton right now as long as 777 has this exclusive contract in place.

The issue that other prospective buyers will face is that they will likely be relying on outdated data or information that they can compile for the media and may eventually simply express interest in the company.

“However, I imagine it’s challenging for Everton and Moshiri’s advisors to be able to engage with potential buyers at this time.”
