Pierre Ekwah delivers Sunderland dressing room view after Norwich loss and sends message ahead of Leicester

Pierre Ekwah, a midfielder for Sunderland, reacts to their 1-0 loss to Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The Sunderland players, who have lost four straight games and are now nine points out of the Championship play-off spots, must maintain their optimistic attitude, according to Pierre Ekwah.

The Black Cats were defeated 1-0 by Norwich City at Carrow Road, with Canaries striker Josh Sargent scoring the game’s only goal nine minutes from time. “We’d been playing good all afternoon so a late goal is a difficult one to take,” Sunderland midfielder Pierre Ekwah said following the game. “A 1-0 is always difficult. We had really good spells in the game, that’s for sure, and in the end we didn’t come out on top. It’s a difficult one to take.”

With one more league game left to play, Sunderland will host league leaders Leicester on Tuesday at the Stadium of Light. The following weekend, they will travel to Southampton, who will be vying for promotion automatically.
