Daniel Kelly Celtic transfer exit interest from German duo with Hoops keen to secure new deal

German pair expresses interest in Daniel Kelly’s Celtic transfer, but the Hoops are eager to sign a new contract.

With his first goal midweek, the 18-year-old broke into the starting lineup.

Following his Celtic breakthrough, Daniel Kelly is reportedly drawing transfer interest from Germany and England.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who scored his first goal for the Hoops in the 7-1 victory over Dundee, is considered a future star. While Celtic is eager to lock him down to a new contract, reports suggest they face fierce competition from English clubs as well as Bundesliga powerhouses Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.

Kelly can begin talks with other clubs about a pre-contract move in the summer, provided no agreement is signed before December 31 of this year, as his present deal expires on that day. Parkhead officials allegedly began talking about additional terms to try to ward off interest, according to The Daily Mail.

Though it would come at a steep cost and be a further setback following the cheap transfer of emerging sensation Ben Doak to Liverpool, the Celts would still be entitled to training compensation.

The child’s agent was responsible for arranging Jeremie Frimpong’s transfer from Celtic to Leverkusen.

Before making appearances as a substitute this season, Kelly was offered the opportunity to participate in the first team’s pre-season training last summer after excelling for the B team in the Lowland League.

“He’s a young player that I’ve loved working with since I came back,” Brendan Rodgers said in reference to the youngster. He traveled to Portugal with us throughout the preseason and has the most amazing attitude.

“At the age of 17, his physical maturity is evident in his strength, quickness, and dexterity. He is only going to get better, and letting these young players enter and grow is a part of the plan.

“The younger players occasionally get left out of the squad due to its size. He serves as proof that you will reap the benefits when you give them space to train with you.

He has been training with Rocco Vata. Even though Rocco hasn’t played as much, he has still been very effective.”
