Chris Sutton shares Rangers admission as ‘unthinkable’ Kyogo Furuhashi situation mooted at Celtic

Chris Sutton shares Rangers admission as ‘unthinkable’ Kyogo Furuhashi problem mentioned at Celtic.

Chris Sutton believes Celtic will need to be at their greatest best if they are to defeat Rangers, who show no signs of letting up, to the Scottish Premiership title.

Philippe Clement has generated a wonderful atmosphere at Ibrox, with his squad reducing the distance on their Old Firm rivals over the last several weeks and, eventually, taking the top spot.

The Gers presently have a two-point cushion over Brendan Rodgers’ side, and with no signs of slowing down, the league title might come down to the wire.

Writing for Daily Record on Saturday (2 March), Sutton said: “You could argue their result was even more impressive than Celtic hitting Dundee for seven. The way Derek McInnes has Kilmarnock playing, plenty of fans would have been looking at Rugby Park as a potential hurdle in the road.

“To come back from a goal down and get the three points was good going – and it shows Celtic are not going to get any favours.

“They might need to win all games outside the Rangers clashes – and take four points against the Ibrox side. That’s a hefty order and have we seen enough evidence to say it’s going to happen?”

Perplexed by the situation surrounding Kyogo Furuhashi at Celtic Park, Sutton still thinks the Japan international might inflict damage to Rangers: “I still can’t get my head around what’s happened to him this season but if he’s going to be on the bench in the next few weeks it will be extremely interesting when it comes to Ibrox next month.

“Kyogo has shown he’s a player for the big games and he’s caused Rangers so much damage over the years, including this season. It would be nearly impossible to keep him out of the side traveling to Govan, however Idah’s form might offer Rodgers little choice.”
