The Preview – Norwich City v Sunderland
Many significant City/Sunderland matches have occurred throughout the years, and this one gives MFW the chance to interact with a friend of mine, Thomas Weetman, who has been a season ticket holder at the Stadium of Light since 2010.
Before tomorrow’s game, he was gracious enough to spare a few minutes from his hectic schedule in the Northeast to speak with us.
..
What are your impressions of Sunderland’s current season?
A: I’m not sure how I feel about Sunderland’s remaining games. By appointing an assistant manager to supervise the team in the interim, we are taking a huge risk, especially with Jack Clarke out for the next six weeks. Nevertheless, I’m hoping we have enough players.
strength to maintain our competitiveness.
What do you hope to get out of the last few games of the season?
A: I have very low hopes and expectations for the season’s final stretch. Although it would be wonderful to be proven wrong, it would be extremely difficult to top our performance from the previous season.
Where do you think these two teams will end up in the standings?
A: I believe that both teams will push for the playoffs and finish in the top half of the table, but I also believe that it will be difficult for either club to advance.
What are the areas you believe Sunderland needs to be on the lookout for this weekend?
A: What I believe Sunderland should watch absent this coming weekend?
A: I believe that Sunderland should be cautious this weekend, especially in the middle of midfield, as our center defense is lacking. Even though Dan Neil has performed admirably this season, he couldn’t manage that midfield by himself.
Would you care to guess the Saturday score?
A 1-1 boring draw is what I’m betting on for the weekend, although I’d love to be proven wrong.

On Saturday afternoon, the Canaries will want to extend their incredible home record and make it 11 games unbeaten at Carrow Road against managerless Sunderland. Last weekend, following yet another trying day on the road, City had to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Blackburn.
In their last five Championship games, David Wagner’s team has won three and drawn two, keeping them undefeated. The most noteworthy fact about those five games is that they all three came at Carrow Road, where they defeated Cardiff City, Watford, and Coventry City.
Owing to those outcomes and their outstanding run of victories in NR1, the Canaries have won 11 of their 17 home games in the Championship this season, placing them sixth in the league for home results with 35 points out of a possible 51.
But even if Sunderland wasn’t playing well prior to this match, history might be repeated this weekend at Carrow Road.
