Sunderland confirm plans for overseas pre-season trip – with two games scheduled

Plans for Sunderland’s preseason trip to Spain, where they will play two friendlies in July, have been made public.

The friendlies are set for Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21. The Black Cats will depart for Costa Blanca on Monday, July 15, and will stay in Alicante for a week.

The Sunderland team’s opponent for the friendlies is still unknown, and the Black Cats claim the game dates are tentative and will be finalized soon.

Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman stated: “We are excited to bring the squad back to continental Europe in July after their tour of North America last summer.

“This tour has outstanding facilities, which will not only make for an amazing experience

for our players, but also serve as a fantastic starting point for the group in the run-up to the 2024–25 season.

“We’re hoping a lot of our fans will be able to make the trip and come show their support for the team while also having a great time in the area. In order to strengthen the bond between our supporters and the club, we also intend to organize a variety of events both domestically and abroad throughout the preseason.
