Rangers v Motherwell injury update shared before Ibrox duel.
Rangers have been possibly buoyed by the news three important Motherwell players would be absent for Saturday’s (2 March) at Ibrox.
Callum Slattery, Barry Maguire and Harry Paton are all missing for Stuart Kettlewell’s side, with Rangers hoping to make it a five-point advantage to second-place Celtic who go to Hearts a day later.
Philippe Clement’s team will be overwhelming favourites, especially with the recent information provided by the visitors.
An article on Motherwell’s official club website (1 March) read: “Slattery, Maguire and Paton are sidelined, whilst Andy Halliday and Calum Butcher will be assessed. Meanwhile, Adam Devine can’t play against his parent club.”
Rangers face Motherwell side with a few absentees
The fact Motherwell have three key players out of action is a boost to Rangers’ hopes of winning.
However, even if their opponents had a perfectly clean bill of health, not many sides would enjoy taking on the Gers right now with the form they are in.
Philippe Clement’s men are on a roll and are top of the tree above rivals Celtic by two points.
They showed great spirit in their last game to recover from 1-0 down to beat Kilmarnock 2-1 at Rugby Park after goals by skipper James Tavernier and forward Tom Lawrence, with the latter managing to score his first goal of the year.
Rangers have won their past 11 games in all competitions to move to the lead and their loss to Celtic in the last Old Firm showdown on 30th December was the last time they were beaten which illustrates how good they have been so far in 2024.
In other Rangers news, an Ianis Hagi transfer development has emerged.
