Rangers ‘needed to hear booing’ as star player makes ‘not good enough’ claim

Following their most recent victory over Kilmarnock, Rangers maintain their lead in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers defeated Kilmarnock, the Scottish Premiership team whom Jack Butland has referred to as “the bogey team” for a few clubs in previous seasons, on Wednesday night, securing another crucial three points.

Despite trailing 1-0 at the break due to an early Killie penalty, James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence’s goals in the second half saw the Gers come back.Celtic had a great day as well, defeating Dundee 7-1 at home to maintain their command of the top spot in the standings.

Rangers leads their competitors by just two points and has won all of their 2024 Premiership games. After the game, Butland spoke about how his team’s season has changed and how the supporters’ earlier dissatisfaction has given them a major boost.

“Achievements have shifted. From the viewpoint of our supporters, they may see that we are making an effort to act morally. They are able to observe that in the games we play, we are the superior team. They can tell that opportunities are approaching,” stated the shot-blocker.

“I believe that’s what they’re looking for, and the closer you are to the top, the more belief you receive. In the end, the fans let themselves chant a little more freely when you do reach the top of the table, if you so choose. However, they have been amazing to us this entire year.

“We needed to hear that jeering at the beginning of the season because we weren’t good enough. However, they have consistently made noise and travelled to all of the places we have been.

“In the past three or four months, the club has experienced great developments from all sides. And we’re living and loving it because of it.”

Despite Rangers’ four losses so far this season, Celtic has been able to bridge the gap and go up to the top thanks to their recent problems. Given the narrow difference between the two Glasgow teams, Philippe Clement and his group will need the fervent backing of their fans to spur them on as they pursue a perfect run through the end of the season.
