Paul Merson predicts who’s going to win this weekend… Everton or West Ham United

Everton host West Ham United this weekend, looking to finally register their first win of 2024.

Last time out, Sean Dyche’s team was denied a 1-0 victory on the South Coast by Brighton and Hove Albion, who stole a late equaliser. It was heartbreaking.

Prior to David Moyes’ team’s visit to Goodison Park, the Toffees are now evaluating Idrissa Gana Gueye and Amadou Onana due to personal injury worries.

“He (Gueye) is still getting settled in,” Dyche said to the press on Thursday. “Amadou is experiencing a similar groyne issue to Gana, which is currently settling down. We will make a more thorough decision regarding them tomorrow.”

After overcoming Brentford 4-2 on Monday night, the Hammers are in fine form as they travel to Merseyside.

Paul Merson has made his predictions about who will win on Saturday afternoon before of the game.

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton FC - Premier League

The Sky Sports commentator has backed Dyche’s team to eventually break through for three points in his monthly Sportskeeda piece.

“Everton received a tremendous boost earlier this week when their points deduction was lowered from ten to six, allowing them to play fearlessly until the end of the season,” he stated.

“They simply need to make sure they don’t lose too many games. They aren’t safe yet, but their circumstances aren’t as dire as they were before.

Sean Dyche and company have a few exciting games coming up, and Goodison Park will be buzzing with excitement before this one.

“They’ll make it count and get a huge victory that will move them one step closer to Premier League safety,” I believe. West Ham 2-1 Everton

Make it count

Home games will be crucial between now and the end of the season.

Given that Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, and Brentford all have games left to play, the Toffees will be expected to secure the points necessary to keep their Premier League standing. Goodison Park may be a challenging place to visit.

The performances have been outstanding, especially in terms of defence. To break Everton’s protracted drought without a Premier League victory, it is up to those at the top of the pitch.
