‘Out Of This World’ – Don Goodman can’t believe what ‘Brilliant’ West Brom ace did v Coventry .

Mikey Johnston’s brilliant first goal for West Brom in their 2-1 victory over Coventry City at The Hawthorns amazed Don Goodman.

The Sky Sports analyst called the goal “out of this world” as he watched the on-loan Celtic winger sneak in from the left flank in the sixth minute, beating Josh Eccles and Milan van Ewijk before blasting it into the far corner.

After moving from Parkhead to the Baggies in January, Goodman, 24, scored his third goal, demonstrating how well he has adapted to life in the south.

“Well, out in the cold in Scotland, out of this world in England,” Goodman remarked at 8:08 p.m. That really is very, very brilliant.

“A little over a week ago, Coventry would have witnessed something quite similar when he scored his goal away against Plymouth Argyle. He cut in off the left side onto his right foot, displayed a lovely little bit of skill, and then cut inside Eccles to bend a beauty into the top corner.

“Given their track record of failing to score early goals, you just felt that tonight’s goal by West Bromwich Albion—and it was a stunner—was important.”

Mikey Johnston proves superb West Brom signing after Celtic struggles

According to Irish international Johnston (The National, February 27,) Brendan Rodgers did not want him to leave Celtic during the winter transfer window, and it is becoming more and more clear why.

However, Carlos Corberan has benefited from the loss of the SPFL boss, and considering the financial situation at The Hawthorns, this must be an exceptional transfer deal.

After joining on a cheap January loan from Bristol City, Andi Weimann has also made a significant contribution, helping West Brom overcome their total lack of a transfer budget—even though Callum Marshall hasn’t followed suit despite the team’s never-ending injury problems up front.

Johnston was outstanding right from the start against the Sky Blues, putting opponents on the defensive with his straight running and creating the game’s pivotal moment to provide the Baggies with a crucial foundation upon which to grow.

It appears that the January arrival will be crucial if Corberan is to secure a play-off spot this season.
