Oscar Cortes had a muscle injury, and Philippe Clement disclosed that a specialist is investigating it. The Rangers winger’s return date is yet unknown.
After joining the Light Blues on loan from Lens last month, the 20-year-old Colombian international made an immediate impression. The Govan club has the option to purchase the player in the summer.
Rangers defeated Hearts 5-0 at Ibrox last weekend, and Cortes scored his first goal for the team that night. However, on Wednesday night, Rangers defeated Kilmarnock 2-1 at Rugby Park, keeping the Light Blues two points ahead of Celtic at the top of the Premiership.
The Belgian manager stated that Oscar Cortes would be out for an unknown amount of time, but he did announce that Ryan Jack, a midfielder, and striker Kemar Roofe would be back in the starting lineup for Saturday’s home match against Motherwell.
“We are investigating that with the physician and expert.
“It is a muscle injury, but at this time, I am unable to provide further details.
“I have no desire to discuss a half-empty glass.
“I am now concentrating on the players who are available for this game, as I would have wasted a lot of energy in the past few months if I hadn’t.
“It’s unfortunate for him and the team, but it’s also a chance for another player to demonstrate and perform; that’s how it works.”
When Clement replaced Michael Beale in October, the team was seven points behind Celtic and Clement emphasised the value of the group.
“Over our four months together, every member of the squad has improved,” he stated.
“Not just physically, but technically and tactically in every way as well, so they know what to do.”
“Working with everyone has been really important in this sense, and we will continue to focus on everyone rather than just 11, 14, or 15 players.”

However, Clement reviewed the game to consider a potential Gers penalty and brought up the habit of players trying to run, turn, and tackle with their hands behind their backs out of fear that the ball would strike them.

My role is to clarify to my players what constitutes handball and what does not. We have an issue if people enter the pitch believing there has been injustice.
“Though I don’t claim it to be true, it must be very apparent what constitutes handball and what doesn’t. The way players are currently rushing around with their hands on their backs doesn’t seem like a smart idea for the game, in my opinion.
Even so, there are situations when hand ball occurs when your hand is that way (out). Players who act like penguins while playing the game are not doing it well.
