Sunderland head to Norwich City in the Championship this weekend.

Sunderland will try to snap a three-match losing streak in the Championship when they go to Carrow Road.

The Black Cats are now eight points behind Hull City in sixth place in the Championship table, although they are still in tenth place.

After defeating Plymouth Argyle 3-1 a few weeks prior, Sunderland was one point ahead of the Tigers in sixth place.

However, Michael Beale was fired shortly after due to a poor run of play and a few poor outings, and interim manager Mike Dodds lost his first game in charge, 2-1, to Swansea City.

David Prutton predicts another defeat for Sunderland

Undoubtedly, Sunderland’s current form is dismal.

And it will undoubtedly help Norwich City as they compete for a spot in the top six, with Dan Ballard suspended for one more game and Jack Clarke out until April at the latest.

Three points behind Hull in sixth place in the table, the Canaries occupy the seventh spot.

After drawing away at Blackburn Rovers in previous outing, David Wagner‘s team is unbeaten in their past five league games and has only lost one of their previous nine.

Nonetheless, Sky Sports analyst David Prutton has projected that Norwich will overcome Sunderland this weekend in order to get back to winning ways, with a score of 2-1 for the Canaries.

In their most recent meeting, Sunderland defeated the opposition 3-1 at the Stadium of Light in October thanks to goals from Dan Neil, Trai Hume, and Clarke.

Matters could go from bad to worse for Mike Dodds v Norwich City

Dodds has undoubtedly arrived at a challenging moment.

After the turmoil of Beale’s stint, the Sunderland players appear lost, and without Ballard or Clarke this weekend against a formidable Norwich City team, it might be an exhausting afternoon.

In terms of finishing in the top six, the Black Cats still have hope, which should motivate them this weekend.

Dodds should be back in a far more recognisable shape this weekend since he will have learned from his blunders during the Swansea City match.

Additionally, with Clarke and Ballard possibly departing this summer, several lesser-known players will have an opportunity to make an impression heading into the summer and the upcoming year.

Tomorrow afternoon’s kickoff is at 3pm, and if Sunderland can upset Prutton’s forecast, it will instill much-needed confidence in both the team and the supporters.
