Championship news: Sunderland friendly plans, injury update plus Ireland boss names coaching team

This weekend, Sunderland will visit Norwich City in the Championship with the goal of resuming their play-off push. The most recent news from the Sunderland camp is shown below.

News of injuries sustained by Sunderland
Corry Evans, Bradley Dack, and Aji Alese are expected to return to action for Sunderland soon, but Mike Dodds has cautioned that none of the three will be available for this important three-match stretch. After missing over a year due to an ACL injury, club captain Corry Evans is back to full training. However, he will first play two U21 matches before considering a return to Championship action. He is therefore unlikely to be in contention prior to the March international break.

While Alese and Dack have been working alongside their teammates on the first squad, they are still a long way off from being considered for selection.

Pre-season training schedules for Sunderland
It has been confirmed that Sunderland will travel to Spain for their preseason training camp this summer. On Monday, July 15, the Black Cats will depart for the Costa Blanca, where they will stay for a week in Alicante and play two friendlies.

Under interim head coach Mike Dodds, Sunderland hopes to conclude the season strong and sneak into the play-offs, albeit considering their current play, that is currently an uphill task. Sunderland travels to Norwich City in the Championship this weekend. Plans are in place for the time when the incoming manager assumes leadership in the  summer after their training camp details were made public.
